LISTEN: Interview on The John Kentera Show
Check out some of my recent media appearances in support of "Playing Through the Pain."
I was honored to appear on The John Kentera Show on KWFN-FM, 97.3 The Fan, to discuss my book about Ken Caminiti.
"Coach" is a San Diego icon who was around during Ken's time with the Padres, so he had personal insights on Ken's presence in the clubhouse and his ability to play through so many injuries.
We talked about my interviews for the book with Kevin Towers and Bruce Bochy, as well as Ken's role as a clubhouse enforcer and the time Ken confronted a heckler at a 1998 spring training game.
Ken's Padres years were so special, and he continues to be beloved by San Diego fans (one of the joys from my book launch event, held over the weekend in New York, was having a Padres fan, Adam, in attendance).
You can listen to the interview here.
I also appeared on "The Heart of Sports" with Jason Springer and Jeffrey Cohen on WWDB-AM Talk 860 in Philadelphia, talking about baseball's steroids era along with my earlier documentary on Atlantic City political boss Nucky Johnson.
Todd Sliss with the Scarsdale Inquirer wrote a feature story about my book's long journey and what it meant to bring Ken's story forward.
And I shared a lively chat with Bob and Jeff Lutz on KFH-FM in Wichita, Kansas, discussing the complex emotions around steroids in baseball and how we should consider those who chose to use PEDs.
Last, but far from least, I wanted to thank those who came to my book launch event yesterday -- friends, family, baseball fans and book enthusiasts. It was such a special day, and your support means the world to me.
I'm hoping to hold future book events and will keep you posted as they get scheduled!
