I had the honor of recording a series of interviews recently, and I wanted to share two that have been released in the past few days.

Baseball and BBQ, hosted by Leonard Aberman and Jeff Cohen, is a unique podcast — each episode involves an interview with a baseball figure and someone from the barbecue or food world.

I guess I could have talked about food! But I'm better talking about Ken Caminiti, and baseball, and my conversation from Episode #168 starts at about the 57:00 mark.

My book Playing Through the Pain: Ken Caminiti and the Steroids Confession That Changed Baseball Forever is a finalist for the CASEY Award as one of the year’s best baseball books.

It was a great conversation ... I can't thank Len and Jeff enough for their thoughtful questions and sharp insights. It was clear that they did their homework and prepared for the interview, which always raises the game and makes the conversation stronger.

You can listen to that interview here.

I was honored, too, to appear on the Check Your Brain podcast with Tony Mazur, in which we talked about Ken's journey, his career highlights, and the pervasiveness of drugs in baseball during the 1990s.

It’s always fun to talk about specific plays and highlights from Ken’s career! We discussed his iconic throw across the diamond from his butt during a game against the Marlins in early 1996.

I also wanted to share a recent post on LinkedIn by Dennis Garcia, an Assistant General Counsel for Microsoft who also happens to be a big baseball fan.

Garcia wrote his thoughts about my book and the habit of many people to "play through the pain" inside and outside of the workplace.

As a writer, it's meaningful to see others gathering insights and takeaways from your work, and Garcia's post did a nice job of highlighting some of the book's key lessons.
